Girl Scouts STEM Fest 2025

On May 3, 2025, Stormgears FRC 5422 participated in the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) STEM Fest at Camp Cedar Hill in Waltham, MA. The event featured hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math challenges provided by local program partners . Stormgears contributed to the event’s success by leading engaging STEM activities for attendees.

The following Stormgears volunteers played a key role in making this event a success: Simra Ali, Sabah Chatiwala, Saayan Rao, Sarthak Jindal, Sean Hardt, Khuzema Bootwala, Akshaj Ghanta, Daniel Arsiwala, Elena Wu, and Shaarini Kumar.

We engaged approximately 600 attendees at the event, running three hands-on activities: robot driving, bristlebots, and pasta-marshmallow towers. All three activities were a hit among the Girl Scouts!

To support robot driving, we secured a large hall that allowed us to operate both SaturnX and Steamworks simultaneously, sparking excitement and interaction with the crowd.

The children loved driving the robots and launching rings and balls into the target!

Scouts also had fun building and customizing their bristlebots, with one creative participant even connecting two together using a stick to form a “mega bristlebot!”

The pasta tower challenge was another favorite, with one team successfully building a structure over a foot tall!

In preparation for this event, SaturnX, our robot from the 2024 Crescendo season, was restored to full working condition to serve as an outreach robot for future events, beginning with this Girl Scout STEM Fest. We are proud to report that the restoration was a complete success, with SaturnX performing flawlessly throughout the entire five-hour event!
